Ethyl ascorbic acid, also known as 3-O-ethyl-l-ascorbic acid, is a form of vitamin C that is commonly used in skincare products. It is an etherified derivative of ascorbic acid that is soluble in both water and oil. As it contains an ethyl group bound to the third carbon position, it is one of the most stable known forms of vitamin C, which enables it to penetrate the skin’s deeper layers without causing irritation.

3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid is water soluble and stable in higher temperatures than other Vitamin C derivatives, therefore, it is effectively used in skin care to reduce uneven skin tone and increase skin softness and smoothness. It is a stable and highly effective form of vitamin C that has been shown to provide many of the same benefits as other forms of vitamin C, such as L-ascorbic acid.

3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid has antioxidant properties and helps promote collagen production, which can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  It acts as whitening agent by reducing melanin production with 2 mechanism. It can help to protect the skin from damage caused by environmental stressors such as UV radiation and pollution.
