Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP) is a naturally occurring water-soluble derivative of vitamin C. It is the most stable form of vitamin C, which means it does not oxidise. It is the most stable form of vitamin C, which means it does not oxidise, making it a preferred choice for cosmetic formulations. It is more stable and bioavailable than magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (MAP), ascorbyl palmitate and ascorbic acid (among other vitamin C derivatives).
Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP) is a light stable, oxygen stable and long-lasting derivative of vitamin C when used in aqueous formulations. It is used for skin-lightening, antioxidant effects, and reducing the visible effects of aging. Unlike its powerful brother ascorbic acid, it does not like acidic environments and requires a pH of around 6-7. It is an antioxidant that reduces oxidative stress by neutralising free radicals, effectively slowing the ageing process and slowing the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.
SAP has the ability to penetrate the epidermis without causing irritation. We all know that UVA and UVB radiation from sun exposure causes degenerative effects that accelerate the aging process. Fortunately, SAP has the ability to scavenge free radicals and oxygen species and render them harmless. SAP is an active ingredient that protects against UV damage and improves the photoprotective properties of sunscreens. This means it prevents sunburn and supports sunscreens in their protective effect. Similar to a tyrosinase inhibitor, SAP has skin-lightening properties by inhibiting melanin production. SAP is water-soluble and should be used at a concentration between 0.2%-3% but up to 5% for skin lightening. Please use at the end of your formulation process before your preservative.

Mix Method: Add to heat phase , dissolves at 40°C (104°F). To avoid forming lumps, do not add the powder at once in water. its advice to disperse sparingly in small amount at a time till finally mixed.
It is best suited in formulations with a final pH between 6.0 – 7.0. Not to be used in PH below 6 to avoid discoloration in formulation.

USAGE RATE: Should be used in concentrations between 0.2% to 3% but up to 5% are considered necessary to target discolorations, wrinkle-smoothing and elasticity-increasing benefit to skin around the eyes, significant improvement in acne treatment.
